Abstract

The article briefly characterizes a web service for thermochemical calculations in term of its implementation and provided methods. It specifies web service error conditions and their dependency on input parameters as well. The article closely deals with a two approaches aimed at solution of error conditions. The first approach is based on exception utilization. It defines fault in WSDL file, describes fault structure in XML schema, creation of exception on the web service side and exception processing on the client side in different programming languages. The second approach is based on the indication of error condition in the form of return XML structure. It describes two variants. First one has two XML structures – one standard message and error message as second and their processing on the client. Second variant has one XML structure with permanent indication of successfulness of web service calling and its processing on the client side. Individual approaches are compared and evaluated.
