PROSPECTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE USE OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS AS BUNKER FUEL IN THE ARCTIC REGION OF RUSSIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Katysheva, Elena)

At the present day, requirements to the quality of marine fuel and to the volumes of air pollutant emissions become stricter for shipping in the Arctic Region. This article states that one of the most important ways to follow the emission limits is switching the ice-rated vessels to liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel. As compared with oil fuels, LNG has the superior calorific value and the best physical characteristic. It is noted that Russia has a number of opportunities to apply LNG both for supply of water and...

STUDY ON THE USEFULNESS OF LlQUlD PRODUCTS FROM PYROLYSIS OF USED VEHICLE TIRES AS FUEL FOR DIESEL ENGINES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Szmukala, M., JASIEWICZ, R.)

The paper analyzes physicochemical properties of liquid products of waste tyre pyrolysis, and attempts to assess their usefulness as fuel for diesel engines. Every year, the number of produced vehicle tires increases at a very fast pace. Used tyres turn into waste that is difficult to manage simply because, according to relevant EU regulations, vehicle tires should be subject to recycling. To a large extent, the problem of waste tyres management may be resolved by their utilization through pyrolysis. The processin...

FUEL CONSUMPTION MONITORING IN MINING OPERATION FOR THE NEEDS OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF TRANSPORT MEANS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Neradilova, H., Hodemarsky, T.)

Transport means play an important role in extraction and processing of raw materials. Their use is economically connected with several cost items that significantly affect whole process efficiency. Generally costs associated with mining road haulage can be divided into two major categories of the variable and fixed costs. From above mentioned dividing is necessary to pay particular attention to variable costs, which are influenced by the size of individual transport activities. Among the most important items inclu...
