ASSESSMENT OF HEAVY METALS LEACHING FROM DIFFERENT TYPES OF WASTE MIXED WITH MOLASSES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Modoi, O.C., Ajtai, N., ROBA, C., Ciobotariu, C., Mihaiescu, T.)

In the present study it was evaluated the capacity of molasses for removing seven metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, and Ni) from three types of waste: galvanic sludge (pH = 7.1 ? 7.8), mineral residue from a lead metallurgical plant (pH = 5.0 ? 5.8) from Baia Mare (Romania), and tailing pond residue from Aurul - Baia Mare (pH = 2.1 ? 3.0). Several leaching tests were conducted in the laboratory in order to investigate the influence of molasses concentrations (0 %, 1%, 5%, 10%) on heavy metal leaching. It was observe...

IMPROVEMENT OF SOIL HEALTH AND QUALITY USING COMPOST APPLICATION IN WHEAT CROPPING SYSTEM - LYSIMETRIC EXPERIMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Moraru, Ioana, Ciuciuc, E., Hladky, J., Kynicky, J., Brtnicky, M.)

Depletion of soil fertility due to decrease in soil organic matter content represents a considerable problem in both developed and undeveloped countries. This paper deals with the comparison of compost (Cp) and mineral nitrogen fertilizer (NF) application on selected soil parameters which indicate state of soil environment, its health and quality. The main objectives of this study were (a) to investigate influence of Cp and NF application on total nitrogen (TN) and carbon (TC) content in soil (b), to determine pos...

CHARACTERIZATION OF AEROSOL OPTICAL AND MICROPHYSICAL PROPERTIES OVER NORTH-WESTERN ROMANIA IN CORRELATION WITH PREDOMINANT ATMOSPHERIC CIRCULATION PATTERNS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Ajtai, N., Stefanie, H., Arghius, V., Meltzer, M., Costin, D.)

Due to its geographical location, in the atmosphere above Romania several types of aerosol particles can be present: continental, biomass burning, and mineral dust aerosols. The vast majority of industrial facilities are located near urban areas; therefore the exposure of the human population to high concentrations of particulate matter can be significant. Although local sources are the major contributor to the air pollution in Romania, the contribution of remote sources is often significant, both aloft and near t...
