Studies in the literature on the effect of dietary n-3 and n-6 PUFA on lymphocyte subpopulations in mammalian and poultry studies are contradictory. This might be due to differences in species, basal diet, fat amount, ratio of n-6 to n-3 PUFA and different fatty acids of n-3 PUFA. An inclusion of flaxseed in the diets of chickens can increase the n-3 fatty acids (FA) of poultry meat as it is rich source of ?-linolenic acid.
