(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Gabriela Soreanu, Igor Crețescu, Doina Lutic, María Harja, Stelian S. Maier)

In this work, a brief assessment of using microalgae (Arthrospira platensis PCC 8005) for lowering carbon emissions during biotrickling filtration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from air is performed. In this regard, the removal efficiency of acetic acid vapors (used as model VOC in this study) and carbon dioxide production from this process are evaluated in the presence of: (1) classical microorganisms (e.g. from compost), (2) mixture of compost microorganisms and microalgae, (3) microalgae. A blank trial (...

STUDY OF THE INFLUENCE OF DRONES ON THE MEASUREMENT OF AIR POLLUTANTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Marek Hütter, Radomír Ščurek, Věra Holubová)

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) began being constructed many decades ago. Recently - in line with technological developments - there has also been a progression of its expansion, both among the lay public and its dynamic integration within the security services. One of the desired functionalities of the drones is the continuous measurement of air pollution at the scene of a fire. This paper deals with the question of whether drones, due to the rotation of their rotors, do not affect the values of air pollution, the...

THE DEVELOPMENT OF ECONOMICALLY EFFICIENT NON-POLLUTING TECHNOLOGIES FOR SOYBEANS

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Simona Nita, Lucian Dumitru Nita, A. Ökrös, Lucian Florin Botos, Livia Birliba)

The main hope for solving protein deficit is the cultivation of legumes, which is why the -Protein Advisory Group of the FAO- initiated a new green revolution, that of vegetables. The researches of the last decades have shown that, in the nodule of the roots of leguminous plants, nitrogen accumulates through the activity of the bacteria living in these nodules. The symbiosis is dependent on endogenous and exogenous factors that ensure the functioning and regulation of fixed nitrogen. The paper presents the results...

The main purpose of our research was to accumulate as much scientific data as possible, regarding the properties of the soil (physical, chemical and hydrophysical) of the various types of soil, necessary to establish strategies for adapting agricultural systems to the effects of climate change, through a complex approach of physical-geographical and climatic-edaphic conditions in the Western part of Romania, respectively, the Mure?-Gala?ca Plain. Its general objectives consist in the accumulation of scientific dat...

THE INFLUENCE OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON LEAFY VEGETABLES MINERAL COMPOSITION

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Narcis Gheorghe Baghina, Despina-Maria Bordean, L. M. Alda, Ioan Gaica, D. Dicu)

Lettuce is one of the most popular leafy vegetables due to the high concentrations of minerals and vitamins. The high ecological plasticity and short vegetation period makes it extremely vulnerable to environmental conditions and, indirectly, to climate change. In order to obtain plants with valuable nutritional profile, the environmental conditions for cultivation, like moisture content and temperature are very important. There are many research studies performed concerning the effects of climatic changes on agri...

THE NARRATIVE OF CLIMATE CHANGE IN LATVIAN MEDIA CONTENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Ilva Skulte)

The mass media are important actors in the conceptualization of the problems and possible solutions related to climate change. They have an opportunity to master the agenda and formulate it not only in all importance and complexity but also in the diversity of aspects to be included for proper understanding of the climate change concept by the public. In doing so they build on existing agendas by policymakers, scholars, and other actors, but also have their agency to be exercised in all responsibility and by speci...

THE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION OF LEAD IN SNOW: CASE STUDY OF JELGAVA CITY

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Kristaps Siltumens, Sindija Liepa, Juris Burlakovs, Oskars Purmalis, Viktorija Visocka)

The growing global population is creating high demand for transport and the various goods industries, which produce lead-generating emissions from air pollutants. The increase in lead concentration is very dangerous because it affects the nature and human health around us. The great concern for human health and the environment has contributed to research on lead concentrations around us. The aim of the study is to clarify the prevalence of lead in Jelgava between 2018 and 2021. The winter period was selected for t...

THE SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION OF ZINC IN SNOW: CASE STUDY OF JELGAVA CITY

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Jovita Pilecka-Uļčugačeva, Inga Grīnfelde, Reinis Mednis, Anda Bakute, Kristaps Siltumens)

The harmful effects of various air pollutants on human health, living in a polluted air environment, are relatively well proven: the morbidity of the population is increasing, life expectancy is decreasing. Suspended particulates are one of the generally recognized air pollutants. The most dangerous solid particles are released during primary combustion processes, they contain heavy metals (zinc, copper, iron, lead). Heavy metals are known to be persistent in the human body and remain for decades. Heavy metals can...

THREE-DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS OF THE CITY ENVIRONMENT CONTAMINATION WITH HEAVY METALS BASED ON THE FINDINGS OF THE SNOW COVER STUDY

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Stepanova Nv, E.R. Valeeva, Amr S. Elbahnasawy, Sinitsyna Oo, С Ф Фомина, Aizat Basyyrov)

Analysis of the air environment and atmospheric emissions is an efficient method for assessing the ecological situation in cities. Assessment of the chemical composition of deposit environments (soil, snow) shows long-term contamination. The snow cover (SC), being a natural accumulating plate, reflects environmental contamination with heavy metals (HM) caused by entry from various sources. The work aims to study the three-dimensional dynamics of large city contamination with HM. Sampling (in 2019 - 100, in 2020-10...

In this study, a classical biotrickling filter (based on compost microorganisms) and an upgraded biotrickling filter (based on a mixture of compost microorganisms and microalgae Arthrospira platensis PCC 8005) are evaluated in terms of carbon dioxide production, during their use for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) removal from air. This study describes the typology of family agricultural systems from the western part of Romania. Fourteen family agricultural farms from Arad County, Romania, are taken in the study, whose areas range between 0.34 ha and 25 ha, with an average of about 22 ha. The main crops within these farms are grain maize, followed by wheat, oats, sunflower and rapeseed and, on smaller areas, fodder, vegetables and triticale. Because the structure of the crops is very diverse - the largest area is 12.60 ha and the smallest on...

WIND INDUCED RESUSPENSION OF PARTICULATE MATTER FRACTIONS IN URBAN ENVIRONMENT AND THEIR CORRELATION TO NITROGEN OXIDES

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Jakub Linda, Ondřej Uhlík, Klaudia Köbölová, Jiří Pospíšil, Tomáš Apeltauer)

Air pollution by particulate matter (PM) in urban environment is an ongoing problem with increasing severity. With the gradual evolution of electromobility and lowemission heat sources, the focus is shifting to non-exhaust PM emissions. Wind induced PM resuspension is one of them. This source is hardly amenable to mitigation measures. It was assumed, that only coarse PM (PM10-2,5) can be lifted from the ground by the wind. By the evaluation of the long-term data series, we can divide the PM10 concentration to its ...
