Within the scope of this study, Kuz-Ram and JKMRC fragmentation estimation models were applied to bench blasting operations and pros and cons of models were determined by comparing estimation results with the real fragmentation results obtained from digital image processing technique. On the other side, bench blast optimization method by means of models and digital image processing technique, is introduced in order to get desired fragmentation result from bench blast.

The environmental problems arisen from ground vibration and air blast have been faced and discussed frequently in various industries such as mining, construction, quarry etc. where blasting operations are unavoidable.
