For all territory of Kosova during 1966 – 1982 were compiled geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000 and description texts. During 2005 – 2006 ICMM had projects on compiling Geological map at scale 1:200 000 and digitalization of geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000. Kosovo is rich in coal resources / reserves. There are about 14 billion tones coal resources in Kosova. The coal in Kosova is used mainly in power (electricity) generation and less amount for heating. Kosovo coal is lignite type. Exploitation of coal is being donning in two open pits Bardh and Mirash. Kosovo has a varied geology that ranges in age from the Neo-Proterozoic to the Holocene.
