This paper presents a study on the stability of nineteen excavation slopes in metamorphic and carbonate rock masses along roads and urban areas in Central Portugal. The paper deals with an analysis of the settlement of a tank. The tank has a diameter of 18.6 m and a volume of 1760 m3. The subsoil consists of soft sandy clays and clays of low to medium plasticity. The tank has been founded on a slab of a thickness of 0.2 m.
