The updated genetic classification of mineral deposits as natural objects, whose origin is ambiguous, is presented. The classification is based on the petrological and lithological principles, which makes it universal. The conditions for the formation of endogenic, exogenic, and metamorphogenic deposits are considered. Endogenous objects are divided into three groups: magmatic, metasomatic and hydrothermal.
