HAZARD IDENTIFICATION OF CLIMATE RISK FACTORS ON HEALTH OF THE FAR NORTH POPULATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-12-20, Zaitseva, Nina, Chetvertkina, Kristina, Khasanova, Anna)

Climatic factors of the Far North can form a risk to human health due to diseases of a number of organs and systems. In the context of the need to adapt the population to these conditions, it is relevant to assess the public health risk. However, not all factors can be assessed due to the lack of the necessary parameters for their assessment. In this regard, it is relevant to identify the hazard (harmfulness) of climate factors that may cause the formation of a risk to public health, for inclusion in further risk ...

CRISIS MANAGEMENT RISK ASSESSMENT QUANTITATIVE METHODS APPLIED ON THE CRISIS EVENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Kurilovska, Lucia, Mullerova, Jana)

The paper deals with quantitative methods of risk management applied to a crisis event of criminal origin. Two quantitative risk assessment methods are introduced. The event tree analysis and the RM/RA CRAMM method are applied from the perspective of crisis management in the phase of criminal crisis prevention. The advantages and disadvantages of the quantitative methods compared to qualitative methods are discussed. The quality of input data is accented to get reliable results that can be seriously taken into acc...

USING MULTIVARIATE STATISTICS TO SOLVE RISK ASSESSMENT PROBLEMS FOR FOREST ECOSYSTEMS

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Taseiko, Olga, Ivanova, Ulyana, Rihter, Elena, Pitt, Anne)

Different natural and man-made hazards lead to the loss of millions of hectares of forest every year; sustainable forest management, which will decrease or prevent loss, is vitally important for our planet?s health. Sustainable forest management in the Russian Federation implies the effective multi-purpose use of forest resources, which involves implementing preventive and reforestation measures. However, the forest extends over vast territories, which complicates the work of determining the state of the system as...

RISK ASSESSMENT OF THE SOCIAL IMPACT ON ARSON CRIMINALITY BY RM/RA CRAMM METHOD

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Kurilovska, Lucia, Mullerova, Jana)

The paper deals with the quantitative risk assessment approach to the use of the universal quantitative method RM/RA CRAMM. The method is applied to criminality cases related to arson and other cases of environmental insensitivity influenced by social background. The arson statistics recorded in Slovakia are usually hidden behind other reasons of the fire cause. The hypothesis is that there is a certain impact of the social environment on criminality, including arson behaviour. The quantitative method needs quanti...

CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL TESTS USED TO ASSESS THE ECOLOGICAL RISK OF POLLUTION WITH HEAVY METALS AND ARSENIC IN TARNITA MINING AREA, SUCEAVA COUNTY, ROMANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Drochioiu, Gabi, Surleva, Andriana, Ilieva, Darja, Pintilie, Olga, Gradinaru, Robert -Vasile)

The long-term activity of a polymetallic ore mine in the region of Tarnita-Suceava, Romania, has resulted in an enormous amount of waste material, collected in tailing dumps and ponds. The impact of the waste materials on the surrounding ecosystem and human health are far to be fully estimated. The deposited waste has exerted negative impact on the environment, especially on the soils that host dumps and drainage waters. Heavy metals, including arsenic also interfere with the metabolism of plants, and reduce the n...
