GROWTH OF A HYDRAULIC FRACTURE IN THE SIDETRACKED BOREHOLE

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, A. V. Azarov, А. В. Патутин)

Initially developed as one of the most successful methods for stimulating hydrocarbon production, hydraulic fracturing (HF) has gradually found its application in related fields, such as underground mining. At the same time, the importance of controlling the crack propagation path increases, since the design of in-mine hydraulic fracturing is a complex technological task due to the influence of mine workings and other inseam boreholes. When performing HF for the purpose of degassing a coal-bearing massif, there is...

MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF HYDRAULIC FRACTURE PROPAGATION IN POROELASTIC MEDIUM

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, A. V. Azarov)

The paper presents the calculation of the trajectory of an axisymmetric fracture propagation in an isotropic poroelastic medium considering fluid leakage and viscosity. The problem was solved using the extended finite element method (XFEM). It allows to obtain solutions containing a displacement jump with the help of discontinuous functions, and solutions near the crack tip with special asymptotic functions. This method can simulate the process of initiation and propagation of a crack in the direction that is dete...
