Agate-like soil cover structures (ASCS) of leached chernozems are common in some regions of Russia with a total area of 425 242 km2 (the republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, Orenburg, Samara, and Ulyanovsk regions). The term -agate-like structures- was proposed due to the fact that on remote sensing data they resemble a section of the Timan agate.
