IMPORTANCE OF STATIC TESTS FOR THE PREDICTION OF AMD POTENTIAL OF CEMENTED PASTE BACKFILL

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Ferdi Cihangir, Ercüment Koç, Mürsel Orak, Taha Yavuz Deveci, Bayram Erçıkdı)

Cemented paste backfill (CPB) is an engineering mixture of mine tailings, cement and water. Tailings can commonly contain sulphidic minerals. In this case, acid mine drainage (AMD) may occur due to the oxidation of sulphidic minerals present in the body of the CPB. In general, AMD lowers the pH of the medium and water environment and may cause heavy metal release. Therefore, AMD potential is an important parameter to be considered with regard to environmental aspect. Static tests are widely used to determine the A...

INVESTIGATION OF THE POTENTIAL USE OF DAM TAILINGS AS PASTE BACKFILL MATERIAL IN A COPPER MINE

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Bayram Erçıkdı)

In this study, the potential use of dam tailings (DT15 m., DT40 m., DT65 m.) of a copper mine for paste backfill material was investigated. Cemented paste backfill (CPB) samples were subjected to the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) test at 7-14-28-56-90-180 days of curing ages. A total of 378 CPB samples were prepared at different binder dosages of 5.5?11.0 wt% by dry weight to determine an optimum CPB mixture with a target UCS of ?1.0 MPa over a curing period of 28 and 90 days. The strength development of CPB...
