APPLICATION OF MAGNETOTELLURIC METHOD FOR SUPPORTING OF THE SEISMIC DATA INTERPRETATION, EXAMPLE FROM S-L AREA, POLISH WESTERN CARPATHIANS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Stefaniuk Michal, Sada Marek, Cygal Adam, Figula Joanna)

The flysch Carpathians presents geological medium that is especially difficult for deep recognizing with use of geophysical methods. Complex geological structure of folded orogeny and connected with it distribution of physical parameters generate ambiguous and frequently unreadable seismic image. In such circumstances looking for independent support for geological interpretation of seismic sections is purposeful, for example using magnetotelluric data. Magnetotelluric measurements were carried out along the select...

IDENTIFICATION OF PHYSICAL PARAMETER VARIABILITY IN PLEISTOCENE AND NEOGENE SEDIMENT WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF INTEGRATED GEOPHYSICAL DATA INVERSION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Cygal Adam, Stefaniuk Michal, Kret Anna, Pilch Jolanta, Jakub Wazny)

The central and northern parts of Poland are covered by a thick blanket of Pleistocene post-glacial sediment. Directly beneath this material lie loose, or of early diagenetic overprint, Neogene formations, mainly Miocene sediment. The thickness of Quaternary sediments in the northern part of the country locally exceeds 300 m. The loose and highly, internally diverse subsurface complex considerably hampers the completion of seismic surveys, especially those including the seismic reflection method. The basic issue o...
