The clay fraction of saponite-rich samples from western Macedonia, Greece was used for the preparation of TiO2 –pillared saponite. Nanocomposites of titania saponite were prepared by solvothermal reaction using water and ethanol as the solvent, hexamethylene tetramine as the precipitant and titanium trichloride as the precursor.
