The requirements imposed by Regulation (EC) 2003/2003 on fertilizers and those set out in Annex III of the Regulation, require tests and physico-chemical analyses for high ammonium nitrate-based chemical fertilizers. The physicochemical properties of ammonium nitrate, as well as a number of factors influencing the sensitivity to detonation, underline the importance of the thermal conditioning of ammonium nitrate according to temperature in terms of detonation risk.
