ENZYMATIC DETERMINATION OF STARCH IN BIODEGRADABLE PACKAGING MATERIALS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, I.A. Khadyko, E.V. Novozhilov)

Starch is widely used as a biodegradable component in the production of modern packaging materials. Determination of starch is necessary to control the stage of production of starch-containing materials, as well as to assess their biodegradability. The main process leading to the destruction of biodegradable composites is the biological degradation of starch under the influence of enzymes when starch-containing materials are located in the natural environment. Two types of starch-containing packaging materials wer...

NEW INSIGHT INTO FORMATION OF THE SECONDARY WALL OF PLANT FIBRE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, D.G. Chukhchin, E.V. Novozhilov, K.S. Bolotova)

Fibre formation is one of the key issues in plant biology. The walls of plant fibres consist of several layers with different structural organization, chemical composition and properties. The morphology of the secondary wall largely defines the physical and physicochemical properties of plants. In spite of the progress in knowledge and technical ability, various problems concerning fiber formation remain basically unsolved. The new data are obtained by visualization of birch Betula pubescens and spruce Picea abies...

THE MORPHOLOGICAL STRUCTURE OF MICROCRYSTALLITES DERIVED FROM PLANT AND BACTERIAL CELLULOSE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, K.S. Bolotova, Oksana Travina, D.G. Chukhchin, E.V. Novozhilov)

Comparison of microcrystallites morphological structure of microcrystalline cellulose specimens obtained hydrolytically from plant and bacterial cellulose microfibrils is described. Micromorphological characteristics of the structures are visualized using SEM Sigma VP ZEISS scanning electron microscopy. The crystallinity degree of the microcrystalline cellulose specimens is calculated by new method using X-ray diffractometry (XRD-7000S diffractometer). Native bacterial cellulose is obtained on the glucose media us...
