ADSORPTION CAPACITY, STRUCTURE AND SURFACE PROPERTIES OF ACTIVATED CARBONS PRODUCED FROM PISTACIA LENTISCUS BY-PRODUCT

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Firas Feki, Boyko Tsyntsarski, Sami Sayadi, G. Georgiev, Vladimir Dımıtrov)

There are two main sources of activated carbon production - coal and lignocelullosic materials. Recently, scientists have been focused on activated carbon preparation based on agricultural waste and lignocelluloses materials, which are effective and very inexpensive such as corncob, hazelnut shell, olive stone, Jojoba seed residue, etc. The cake remaining after the oil extraction from Pistacia fruits constitutes about 50% of the initial composition, so any commercial utilization of Pistacia oil should consider the...

The development of industrialization worldwide also leads to pollution of ground waters, surface and drinking waters. In order to obtain high quality drinking water, the European Union proposes to develop appropriate methods for purifying water from priority pollutants and potentially hazardous substances. One appropriate method is adsorption, which is a relatively affordable and inexpensive technology for highly efficient water treatment. The aim of the present study is to investigate the adsorption capacity of c...

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZAION OF GRAPHITIC CARBON FOAM AND APPLICATION AS ADSORBENT FOR PHENOL

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Ivanka Stoycheva, Boyko Tsyntsarski, G. Georgiev, Pavlina Dolashka, Bilyana Petrova)

Carbon foam is advanced porous material with multiple high-technology applications, due to its structure, light weight, high thermal stability, high thermal and electrical conductivity. Potential applications of carbon foam are construction of ship and aerospace modules, rocket nozzles, radar adsorbing systems; fuel cells, battery electrodes, nuclear shields, rods for nuclear reactors; prosthetics, etc. In this work a new method for preparation of carbon foam is demonstated, using precursors mixtures of organic su...

OMV’S APPROACH TO BLOCK VARNA, OFFSHORE BULGARIA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2003, W. Klammer, G. Georgiev, T. Eder, R. Gambini, P. Seifert)

The presentation starts with a comparison between North Sea and West Black Sea in respect of maturity of hydrocarbon provinces and exploration efforts. In continuation of the presentation the integrated approach of OMV will be explained, the first reprocessing results of 1992 seismic vintage will be discussed and all planned further steps will be introduced which will lead to hydrocarbon play definition.
