LITHOFACIES ANALYSIS AND DEPOSITIONAL ENVIRONMENTS OF THE UPPER TRIASSIC AND LOWER CRETACEOUS SEDIMENTS IN EUPHRATES GRABEN SYRIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Ibrahem Yousef)

The upper Triassic and lower Cretaceous sediments within the Euphrates graben are one of the most important oil and gas reservoirs to the east of Syria. Based on sedimentological investigations of core materials using methods of optical and scanning electron microscopes (SEM), accompanied with EDS and XRD analyses, four major lithofacies have been detected in the upper Triassic sediments, these include; 1) Lithofacies major sandstone bodies (code: Sst-1); up to 60 m in thickness, composed of medium to coarse-grain...

DIAGENETIC CLAY MINERALS AND RESERVOIR QUALITY OF THE UPPER TRIASSIC SANDSTONE IN EUPHRATES GRABEN, EAST OF SYRIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Ibrahem Yousef)

During diagenesis process, the upper Triassic sandstones Mulussa F reservoir have experienced multiple diagenetic transformations which have an important influence on the petrophysical properties of the reservoir, among them, the influences of the diagenetic / authigenic clay minerals precipitation. Conventional core analysis CCA data combined with petrographical observations have been used to characterize the upper Triassic sandstones reservoir parameters and to define the influence of the diagenetic clay mineral...

STRUCTURAL SETTING AND ZONAL DISTRIBUTION OF UPPER TRIASSIC - LOWER CRETACEOUS RESERVOIRS IN THE SYRIAN EUPHRATES GRABEN

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Ibrahem Yousef)

The purpose of the article is to assess the regional structure of the upper Triassic - lower Cretaceous sediments (Mulussa F and Rutbah reservoirs), which serve as an important targets for hydrocarbons production and exploration to the center and Middle East of Syria. The upper Triassic - lower Cretaceous sediments are approximately of 800 m thickness consist mainly of floodplain clays interbedded with medium to fine grained fluvial sandstones. In addition, there are dolomites and clay dolomites present in the low...
