In this paper, it was shown that the gold-modified carbon black (XC-72R + 20% Au) is able to electrooxidate the glucose under conditions, which are the most suitable for the work of the laccase-based electrode (pH = 4.5). It was established that oxygen does not participate the investigated process. The possible mechanism of the reaction was proposed.
