The purpose of this paper is to describe the geological and geophysical features of the Badenian deposits in the Moldavian Petroleum System, especially those of evaporitic main seal formations. The Moldavian Platform, Romanian sector of the East European Platform, is the oldest platform unit in Romania. Its Western limit sinks beneath the Pericarpathian area following the NNW-SSE Paltinoasa Fault alignment.
