SEA GRASS POSIDONIA OCEANICA AS AN UNCONVENTIONAL THERMAL INSULATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-12-15, Tomáš Vimmr, Klára Kobetičová, Jitka Krejsová, Alena Vimmrová)

The construction industry is one of the largest air polluters. This fact, along with the increasing demand for savings of heating energy, is leading to a growing interest in more eco-friendly materials for building thermal insulations. New thermal insulating material, prepared from the Posidonia Oceanica (commonly known as sea grass or Neptune grass) was prepared and studied. Posidonia Oceanica is an endemic plant that grows in large quantities in the shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea. It is a protected spec...

THE EFFECT OF CALCINATION TEMPERATURE AND DURATION ON THE COMPOSITION AND MORPHOLOGY OF SYNTHESIZED C3A

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-12-15, Lenka Scheinherrová, Michal Beneš, M Šteffek, Jitka Krejsová, Robert Černý)

Green building materials are gaining attention for achieving carbon neutrality in civil engineering. To reduce CO2 emissions from cement, using low-cement or cement-free materials with local supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) is promising. Blended cements with SCMs enhance long-term strength, but low-clinker blends often have low early strength. To address this, understanding the hydration of ordinary Portland cement is crucial. While C3S has been studied, the role of C3A, the most reactive component of c...

MICROSTRUCTURE OF GYPSUM PASTE AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-11-20, Jitka Krejsová)

Gypsum paste was subjected to the temperatures up to 1000 В°C and its microstructure was investigated by SEM microscopy. The volume and mass changes were also measured and the bulk density, porosity and residual strength were determined. After heating to the 1000 В°C the structure of paste changed substantially, as can be seen in the micrographs. The structure of heated material is denser and the anhydrite crystals are bigger. The volume of the samples decreased more than 50%. The bulk density increased by 20%, wh...
