Fibre-reinforcing is an efficient method to improve the mechanical properties of a wide range of materials including soils. A drawback of currently used fibres, given by methods of production, is their uniform cross-section, planar shape and a smooth surface in most cases having an adverse effect on the pull-out capacity of fibres.
