CITIES AND THEIR METHODS OF REDUCING DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, David Fibich, Kristýna Plocová, Jana Pospíšilová)

The article deals with the use of traffic calming elements to improve the environment, slow down traffic and increase safety for cyclists and pedestrians in urban centers in the Czech Republic. Calming elements also have a significant influence on the architecture of the street space. Traffic calming factors can be divided into psychological factors (e.g. road signs) and physical factors (e.g. road narrowing) or a combination of them based on their effect on drivers. These can be used at intersections and road sec...

TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT IN URBAN AREAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Zdenek Kubis, Kristýna Plocová)

Effective transportation planning must take into account urban factors and public space in order to achieve sustainable and efficient solutions to transportation problems in urban areas. Public space includes not only parks, squares, and markets, but also sidewalks and roads. Properly managed transportation in public space can help minimize traffic congestion, ensure efficient and safe movement of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists, and overall improve its quality. The specific example which is frequently used in...

DESIGN TRAFFIC LIGHTS FOR ATYPICAL INTERSECTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Kristýna Plocová, David Fibich)

Road transport is an important component of urban infrastructure planning in developed countries. Not only big cities but now also smaller cities with a smaller population and a smaller area face the problem of a high number of road vehicles. The operation of these vehicles requires the construction of sufficiently high-capacity roads, intersections, parking lots, etc. And it is at intersections, i.e. places where traffic flows meet, that the biggest problems occur, i.e. high traffic accidents, high noise, deterio...
