APPLICABILITY OF WASTE BIOMASS AS BIOSORBENTS FOR THE TREATMENT OF INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATERS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-12-05, Laura Bulgariu)

In this study, three different waste biomass (soy waste biomass, mustard waste biomass and rapeseed waste biomass) resulted after oil extraction, were used as biosorbents for the removal of some heavy metal ions (such as Pb(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II)) from aqueous media. The biosorptive performances of each waste biomass were evaluated as a function of metal ions concentration in aqueous solution and contact time, and the obtained experimental results were modeled using Langmuir isotherm models and pseudo-second order...

LEAD IONS ADSORPTION FROM INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER USING ACTIVATED CARBON PREPARED FROM MARINE GREEN ALGAE BIOMASS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-12-05, Laura Bulgariu)

In this study, activated carbon obtained from marine green algae biomass (AC-AB) was used as adsorbent for the removal of Pb(II) ions from aqueous media. The effect of initial solution pH, adsorbent dose, contact time and initial Pb(II) ions concentration were studied in batch system, at room temperature (22 ? 1?C), to determined the optimum experimental conditions. Thus, an initial solution pH of 6.5, 4.0 g AC-AB/L and at least 60 min of contact time were found to be optimal experimental conditions for the retent...
