Ultrasound diagnostics is a key tool in the investigation of renal diseases in pediatric patients due to its non-invasiveness and accessibility. Although it offers many advantages. Its accuracy in detecting functional pathological changes is investigated in this article. This pilot study included 17 children aged 1 to 18 years who underwent renal ultrasound examination followed by scintigraphy examination in a nuclear medicine clinic. Renal ultrasound images were analyzed using the digital B-MODE Assist system. wh...

MEASURING AND EVALUATION OF THE ECHOGENICITY GRADE OF SUBSTANTIA NIGRA IN MRI SEQUENCES VS B-MODE ULTRASOUND IMAGING USING THE SAME ALGORITHM: PILOT COMPARISON STUDY

Diagnostic ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are important medical imaging methods in modern radiology. Our research is focused on imaging brain structures in neurology. In this paper we present differences of digital image analysis of the substantia nigra (SN) between US and MRI using the same algorithm. In the past, we developed an application for analyzing substantia nigra echogenicity in BMODE US images. Our developed application is based on a principle of binary thresholding in Region of In...

USING IMAGE PROCESSING SOFTWARE DEVELOPED FOR B-IMAGING ON MR IMAGES BASED ON THRESHOLDING ALGORITHM IN A SELECTABLE REGION OF INTEREST

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Jiří Blahuta, Tomáš Soukup, Jan Lavrinčík, Lukáš Pavlík)

In 2011, we developed our application for B-imaging based on binary thresholding algorithm in a selectable Region of Interest. This application has been used in many studies focused on ultrasound B-imaging in neurology; primarily for substantia nigra echogenicity examination and also for some different brain structures, e.g. mediotemporal lobe atrophy investigation. One of principal output value is an echogenicity index which is used as a marker of the echogenicity grade. Many published studies showed that is well...

THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE PROGRESSION OF ATHEROSCLEROTIC PLAQUES IN B-IMAGES BETWEEN COMPUTER IMAGE ANALYSIS USING ECHOGENICITY INDEX AND VISUAL ASSESSMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Jiří Blahuta, Tomáš Soukup, Lukáš Pavlík)

The aim of the presented paper is to give a review of the classification of atherosclerotic plaques between two different input values; using computer image analysis and a visual assessment by an experienced sonographer. In the case of computer analysis, the echogenicity index (Echo-Index) is used. In the case of visual assessment, echogenicity of the plaques have been evaluated from histological patterns. In the case of computer image analysis, B-images have been processed. To computer image analysis, our develop...
