This paper evaluates the abnormalities in monthly, half-year and annual rainfall totals in the Western Tatras Mts for the period 1994 to 2013, issuing from the values recorded at the precipitation stations Bobrovec situated at 632 m a.s.l., Zuberec at 763 m a.s.l. and ?ervenec with an elevation of 1,500 m a.s. l. These stations have also different exposures as for the dominant wind flow: Bobrovec is situated on the leeward side, Zuberec on the windward side and ?ervenec in the summit part of this mountain range. T...

IMPACT OF WEATHER EXTREMES TO THE PHENOLOGICAL PHASES OF BROADLEAVED TREES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Miriam Valkova, Martin Janco)

The contribution is focused on problematics of the impact of weather conditions to the phenological phases of broadleaved trees (Quercus robur L., Fagus sylvatica L., Tilia cordata Mill., Prunus spinosa L.) at the selected research areas in central Slovakia. There were recorded a 10% incidence of falling and yellowing leaves on a group of ten trees selected species. Factors taken in account were rainfall data, the number of tropical days and the length of growing season (June пїЅ August). The significant differenc...

PRECIPITATION AND FOREST INTERCEPTION LOSSES IN SPRUCE FOREST ECOSYSTEM (WESTERN TATRA MOUNTAINS, SLOVAKIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Martin Janco, Michal Miklos)

In our paper we deal with the evaluation and comparison of precipitation totals and interception in living and dead climax spruce stands at a research plot of ?ervenec during the non-vegetation periods (from approximately October to May) in the years 2012 - 2016. The difference in interception was analysed from October 2012 because during the summer 2012 the forests in the area died due to the infestation by the spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus). The research site is located in the Western Tatras (Slovakia) in ...
