The discovery of Bakyrchik gold-sulfide black shale deposit was in 1953. It is situated in Western Kalba metallogenic zone, originated in late Paleozoic age as a separated line between palaeocontinents of Kazakhstan and Altai-Mongol. The Bakyrchik deposit has acicular arsenopyrite and arsenical pyrite containing micron-size (2-5 ?m) gold inclusions. It is large gold reserve (280 tons) in black shales of northern east Kazakhstan.
