MATCHED FILTER APPROACH FOR MICROSEISMIC SIGNAL PROCESSING OF REAL DATA FROM EAST POMERANIA SHALE GAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Mateusz Kmiec, Michal Antoszkiewicz, Robert Jankowski, Marek Szkodo)

The microseismic monitoring is a method of monitoring of fracture propagation during hydraulic fracturing (HF)process. An array of several hundred geophones is placed on the surface to record little ground tremors induced by fracturing process. Filtration and summation of signals from geophones is essential to identify and locate fracturing events from underground. Authors propose a method of matched filtering, that is usually used for detection of outliers in music records, to improve signal to noise ratio. A rea...

MICROSEISMIC EVENT DETECTION USING DIFFERENT ALGORITHMS ON REAL DATA FROM PATCH ARRAY GEOPHONE GRID FROM EASTERN POMERANIA FRACTURING JOB

The microseismic monitoring is a method of monitoring of fracture propagation during hydraulic fracturing process. Hydraulic fracturing is a method of reservoir stimulation used especially for unconventional gas recovery. A matrix of several thousand geophones is placed on the surface of earth to record every little tremor of ground induced by fracturing process. Afterwards, the signal is analysed and the place of tremor occurrence is calculated. The detection of microseismic event is not trivial especially in noi...

REVERSE MODELLING OF MICROSEISMIC WAVES PROPAGATION FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF THE DATA FROM HYDRAULIC FRACTURING MONITORING IN POLAND

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Michal Antoszkiewicz, Mateusz Kmiec, Marek Szkodo, Robert Jankowski)

A hydraulic fracturing job was performed to stimulate gas flow from a horizontal wellbore located in Poland. The whole operation was overseen by means of microseismic monitoring. For this purpose, an array of 12000 geophones was deployed on ground in form of patches distributed unevenly in a region of 4km from the wellbore. The array was constantly recording seismic signals during whole fracturing processed. Such recorded signals can by analyzed to locate, both in time and space, events connected to cracking rocks...
