-GREEN- DYNAMICALLY VULCANIZED THERMOPLASTIC POLYMER COMPOSITES BASED ON PE/PE-G-MA/EPDM REINFORCED WITH FUNCTIONALIZED SEASHELL WASTE

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Laurenţia Alexandrescu, Mihai Georgescu, Maria Sönmez, Mihaela Niţuică, Dana Gurău)

Environmental concerns related to the implementation of circular economy has led to the development of new generations of materials. Interest in polymer composites reinforced with natural-organic/inorganic fillers is growing. Producers of polymer composites convert their production to optimize and replace traditional products with new ones with a high content of bio, recyclable materials, for sustainability and responsible actions. Research and industrial awareness are focused on ecological composites based on nat...

ENVIRONMENT IMPACT OF ECO-ENGINEERED VERSUS CONVENTIONAL FOOTWEAR

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Mirela Pantazi-Bajenaru, Mihai Georgescu, Laurentia Alexandrescu, Traian Foiasi)

The objective of the circular economy is to definitively change the way in which we produce and consume, it consists of doing more with less, and it brings us back to simplicity, trying to break the dependence: production-consumption of raw materials, making the most of each material and extending its useful life. Through eco-design, it seeks to generate circular products that allow the easy separation of all materials, providing new ways of their management and processing to avoid elimination at the end of their ...

POLYAMIDE WASTE/ POLYSTYRENE/ CARBON FIBRES NANOCOMPOSITES: OBTAINING AND CHARACTERIZATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Laurenţia Alexandrescu, Mihai Georgescu, Maria Sönmez, Anton Ficai)

In this paper were obtained waste/polymeric nanocomposites - polyamide waste (PAW) and polystyrene (PS), compatibilized with maleic anhydride grafted polystyrene, and reinforced with carbon nanofibers (CF). PolyamideWaste / polystyrene (PAW / PS) composites are studied because both components are relatively cheap, with beneficial properties, and can be processed by injection. Compatibility of polymer and waste compounds can be achieved by adding a grafted copolymer, the segments of which have physical or chemical ...

ANTIBACTERIAL POLYMERIC NANOCOMPOSITES BASED ON PVC AND FUNCTIONALIZED TiO2 NANOPARTICLES WITH APPLICATION IN THE MEDICAL AND FOOD INDUSTRIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Mihai Georgescu)

The purpose of the paper is to obtain a new composite material based on chemically functionalized nanoparticles dispersed in plastomer matrix. The dispersion of the TiO2 hybrid nanoparticles (filler) in a plastomer matrix (polyvinyl chloride-PVC) leads to a high-performance polymeric material with multi-functional, antibacterial, and plastomer-specific processing properties. The materials are suitable for biomedical and food industry applications and will be tested in terms of long-term stability, and antimicrobia...

THE INFLUENCE OF FUNCTIONALIZING AGENTS ON THE PROPERTIES OF FIBREGLASS POLYMER COMPOSITES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Mihai Georgescu, Daniela Maria Stelescu, Anton Ficai, R. Trusca)

This paper focuses on the influence of the fiber glass functionalization agent on the properties of the polymer composites. Thermoplastic polymers are novelty materials, with special properties, depending on the type of elastomer, the degree and type of functionalization agent of the reinforcing material etc. Thus new impact and flame resistant advanced materials were developed and characterized. The polymers chosen for this study were polyamide (PA), a thermoplastic polymer that has high temperature resistance an...
