The paper describes the practical solutions and safety conditions of realizing the demolition of an industrial chimney and a cooling tower located in a former thermal power plant, having in the very close vicinity several civil constructions. The chimney has a height of 208 m and consists of the outer tubular structure of reinforced concrete and as well as of the inner chimney made of refractory brick masonry. The article outlines the practical steps and security requirements for carrying out the destruction of an industrial chimney on a platform housing an oil refinery that is close to critical structures and equipment.
