ABANDONED MINE WASTES (KEMEROVO REGION, RUSSIA): RESOURCES OF TOXIC AND VALUABLE COMPONENTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Nataliya Yurkevich, S. B. Bortnikova, Nikolay Yurkevich)

Mining activity entails accumulation of sulfide?bearing mill wastes with high concentrations of ore elements (Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd) and impurities (As, Hg, Be, and Tl). The volumes of hazardous sulfide-containing mining waste in non-equipped storage facilities according to modern standards reach several billion tons in Russian Federation. The handling of abandoned waste in our country is not currently regulated, the question remains open: there is no established methodology for estimating stockpiles and handling of wast...

ANALYSIS OF POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS GAS CONCENTRATIONS NEAR THE BERIKUL DUMP REBURIAL (KOMSOMOLSK, WESTERN SIBERIA, RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Sofiya Grakhova, S. B. Bortnikova, Nataliya Yurkevich, Aleksey Edelev)

The studied tailing dump is located on a hill in the urban village limits (Komsomolsk, Kemerovo region) and contained cyanidation wastes. There are the comprehensive school and the central street of the city below a hill, and the kindergarten on the opposite hill. Due to the easy availability of atmospheric oxidizing factors, the material of the bulk dumps changes very quickly, and, of course, seeps into the hill. Two types of streams interact with the material of the Berikul bulk dumps: infiltration water that se...

DAILY DYNAMICS OF ELECTRICAL RESISTVITY AND GAS EMANATIONS ABOVE ABANDONED MINE WASTES (UR DUMP, WESTERN SIBERIA, RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Sofiya Grakhova, P.S. Osipova, Olga Saeva, Aleksey Adelev, Nataliya Yurkevich)

The sulfide containing wastes stocked in the Ur dumps were studied in this paper. The Novo-Ursky copper-pyrite deposit, containing the polymetallic ores, was discovered in 1932 as part of the Ursky ore field, Kemerovo region. During the day, the parameters of each of the dumps change: temperature, humidity of the upper layer, geoelectric parameters, concentrations of emitted substances (gases, vapor with volatile compounds of chemical elements). This article discusses these variables in terms of an integrated appr...

ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE AND RECOVERY PLAN FOR GOLD MINING WASTES

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, I.V. Provornaya, Nataliya Yurkevich, И.В. Филимонова, Tatyana D. Kalgashkina)

In this article, we systematize the main methodological approaches, used in Russia and abroad to the assessment of the accumulated environmental damage. The authors of the study also used the enlarged assessment method to calculate the economic assessment of the accumulated environmental damage around the Komsomolsk gold recovery plant. Input data were obtained by empirical measurements, which were obtained by employees of The Geo-Electrochemistry Laboratory of the Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum-Gas Geology and G...

HYDROCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE ARCTIC THERMOCARST LAKES (GYDAN PENINSULA, RUSSIAN)

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Nataliya Yurkevich, Olga Saeva, Nikolay Yurkevich, Roman Kolesnikov, Tatyana Kuleshova)

Environmental protection and maintaining the ecological balance are the most important state development priorities. Environmental policy issues are closely related to the level of technological equipment of economic sectors, sustainable development of territories, social policy and are aimed at ensuring environmental safety. The expansion of the geography of oil and gas production in Russian Federation in the direction of the northern and Far Eastern territories, the development of new territories (Eastern Siberi...

INTEGRATION OF ELECTRICAL PROSPECTING METHODS AND GEOCHEMICAL TESTING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TAILING DUMPS MODELS

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Yuriy Karin, S. B. Bortnikova, Nataliya Yurkevich)

The relevance of the work is dictated by extensive environmental pollution in the areas of mining waste storage by chemical elements of 1-3 hazard classes (Hg, Be, As, Fe, Cu, Zn, Cd, Pb, Co, Ni, Mo, Ag, and Sb). The interaction of crushed sulfide-containing wastes with surface waters and atmospheric precipitation contributes to the formation of highly mineralized technogenic solutions with element concentrations exceeding the background and maximum permissible values several orders of magnitude. Land and water re...

A GEOPHYSICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL STUDY OF THE SHAHTAMA MOLYBDENUM MINE TAILINGS DEPOSIT (TRANSBAIKAL AREA, RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Nataliya Yurkevich, Vladimir Olenchenko, Olga Saeva, Dmitriy Manzirev)

Geo-electrical sections were constructed according to electrical resistivity tomography data on Shahtama tailings of Mo- ore processing plant (Transbaikal Kray, Russia), located in the permafrost zone. The capacity of technogenic deposits was determined and the zone of the fault was delineated. A wide range of electrical resistivities (ER) of mine tailings was revealed due to their different particle sizes, humidity and partially frozen condition. The statistical analysis of the distribution of resistivity of tech...

BIOSORPTION OF URANYL ION FROM RADIOACTIVE SOLUTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Anatoliy Boguslavsky, Nataliya Yurkevich, Olga Saeva, Olga Gaskova)

U(VI) biosorption by six natural materials: three types of peats, Polytrichium moss, EichhпїЅrnia crпїЅssipes water plant and Cladonia stellaris lichen was investigated. Natural sorbents were selected, as it is available, cheap and accessible materials. The effects of initial concentration of UO2 2- in the model radioactive solution and pH on the sorption uranyl ions were assessed. Adsorption isotherms and constants for given adsorbates and adsorbents were determined. Equilibrium is well described by Freundlich eq...

GEOCHEMICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION IN A DARASUN GOLD MINE TAILINGS AREA (TRANSBAIKAL KRAY, RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Nataliya Yurkevich)

Sulfide-bearing mine tailings of the Darasun ore processing plant situated in the permafrost zone in Trans Baikal region (Russia) were examined in 2016. The composition of mine drainages and affected river waters were investigated. The processes of oxidation and chemical weathering of mine tailings leads to removal of a wide spectrum of chemical elements according to geochemical analyses. Two associations of chemical elements were found: i) Tl, Pb, Cd, Zn, Mn, and Be; ii) Cu, Mo, Au, Ag, As, and Sb. Thallium is pr...
