GIS APPLICATION IN THE FIELD OF ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, R. Kralikova, E. Lumnitzer, M. Badida, M. Bilova)

The general trend of GIS development seems to indicate that it will continue to become easier to use, more intuitive, more analytic, more embedded within a variety of technologies. The latest development in GIS application added an extra dimension to a conventional GIS by using technology of multimedia and virtual reality. The interactive form of decision making taps the widely recognized trend of GIS application from an operational support system to a strategic decision support system.

POSSIBILITIES OF ASBESTOS WASTES DISPOSAL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, L. Kozakova, R. Kralikova)

In regard to indisputable carcinogenic effects of asbestos species the European Union prohibited (from January 2005) the usage all kinds of asbestos fibres in member states. This fact resulted in replacement of asbestos by artificial mineral and synthetic fibres. In this context large demolitions are realised, frequently unnecessary and a big volume of wastes and dangerous dust is created. These are mainly hazardous wastes that require an adequate disposal. The paper offers a view of the most frequently used metho...

LOGISTIC MODEL OF EFFECTIVITY INCRESING FOR SEPARATE WASTE EFFECTIVE COLLECTION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, R. Kralikova, A. Paulikova)

The separated waste collection is one of the most important parts of the integrated waste management system of municipal wastes. Within the waste management logistics, the attention is concentrated on collection and transport of separated waste deriving from municipal wastes and also on proposing methods of data necessary for collection and transport optimalization. At the proposal of the general usage systematic techniques for valuating transport efficiency of separated wastes, only actual and verified data were ...

UTILISATION OF RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES BY INCREASING ENERGETIC EFFICIENCY IN SLOVAKIA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, R. Kralikova, M. Badida, M. Krupa)

Renewable energy source is a source which energetic potential permanently renews with natureВґs processes or with the activity of man. Renewable-based energy sources have as yet played a negligible role in SlovakiaВґs energy balance. However there is the global trend toward more intensive use of these clean energies, therefore their higher utilisation is enshrined among the strategic goals of energy policies of most of the countries worldwide, including Slovakia. Necessity of energy and exploitation of the energet...

VISUALIZATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL DATA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, R. Kralikova, M. Rovnak, M. Kralik)

This paper describes utilization of environmental data to support decision-making in environmental management and protection. This requires a thorough knowledge of related developments in computer science and a good understanding of the environmental management tasks at hand. As computational power increases, and observation systems sample the environment more densely in space and time, environmental datasets have become increasingly large and more complex. Furthermore, environmental datasets, both observed data a...
