The paper deals with problem of analyzing the changes between the extent of the territory, which is affected by the release of ammonia from the stationary source and the changing atmospheric conditions in this territory. To determine the extent of threatened area the ALOHA program environment as a spatial decision support tool was applied. As a scenario the release of ammonia from the tank, i.e. tank wagon staying at the freight railway station in Zvolen. The results of the analyses confirmed the fact the atmosphe...

EXPERIMENTAL COMPARISON OF THE FIRE EXTINGUISHING PROPERTIES OF THE FIRESORB- GEL AND WATER

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Stefan Galla, Branislav Stefanicky, Andrea Majlingova)

In 2008, a new polymer substance FIRESORBпїЅ, used both as a fire extinguishing agent as well as a fire retardant, especially at wildland fires, was placed on the Slovak market. FIRESORBпїЅ gel, in general, due to its high density affects burning materials by even uniform cooling effect, reducing the rate of evaporation. This cooling effect is a dominant one at fires with origin of very high temperatures, where applying water streams would be ineffective due to near immediately water evaporation. The paper is deal...
