Geoenvironmental analyses of tailing dams of Norilsk region, typification of hydrotechnical constructions on safety requirements and recommendations for stability providing were carried out. The results of investigations permitted to provide safety exploitation of tailing dams, improve the environmental situation in region and increase the efficiency of production.

The tailing dumps of concentrating mills are specific ground massifs in pe5rmafrost areas. Such massifs impact on the geological environment. They are the important deposits, namely the sources of the rare metals in the Norilsk industrial area. The process engineering of the permafrost tailing dump mining is discussed in this paper based on the study of the artificial cryolythogenesis.
