In Kazakhstan the marine sections of the boundary deposits of the Bashkirian and Moscovian Stages are located in the Zhungar-Balkhash region within the carbonate-terrigenous, carbonate and, less commonly, carbonate-type rock units. The most well-known and studied sections are situated in the North-Eastern Balkhash Lake region (the Tastykuduk formation) where in the boundary deposits of the Kungesai and the Tastykuduk sections (the Sayak synclinorium) there are faunas of ammonoids, foraminifers, corals, bryozoans, ...
