ENERGY-EFFICIENT BUILDINGS WITH EXPLOITATION OF ACCUMULATION PROPERTIES OF THE GROUND

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Janusz Kogut, Piotr Ochab, Wanda Kokoszka, Izabela Skrzypczak)

The major factor that may affect the ability of ground as a heat storage medium as such is the diversity of substrate materials or groundwater. The residential houses in Okotoks, in the province of Alberta, Canada are good examples of using soil as the heat storage medium. It is worth mentioning that this is not high-efficient solution and it is justified in the case of supply thermal energy needed for heating energy efficient buildings. In particular, it might be useful for passive constructions characterized by ...

RETENTION RESERVOIRS AS AN ACTIVE METHOD OF FLOOD PROTECTION ON EXAMPLE OF THE SUBCARPATHIAN REGION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Wanda Kokoszka, Izabela Skrzypczak, Janusz Kogut)

For years it has been evident the presence of regions with significant surface water and groundwater deficits due to negative climate change impacts such phenomena as global warming, which contributes to enhancing water demands in the country. In order to rationalize water resources management one should minimize the water variability in time (during periods of drought and floods). It should be emphasized, that in recent years increasing frequency of floods, their wide coverage and economic impact justifies taking...

THE IMPACT OF UNDERGROUND MINING ON THE THREAT OF BUILDING STRUCTURES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Wanda Kokoszka, Izabela Skrzypczak, Alicja Sobkowiak, Janusz Kogut)

The risk assessment of buildings in mining areas is being related to the adoption of appropriate measurement methods. These facilities should be properly analysed for the threat to mining activities. The surveys having conducted on the area subjected to continuous deformation caused by underground mining, allow to determine the impact of this exploitation on the buildings located on the soil surface. Surveys are often the only source of information on the impact of exploitation on local infrastructure. Surveys met...

THE THREAT OF LANDSLIDES AND ITS IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE CONDITION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Wanda Kokoszka, Izabela Skrzypczak, Janusz Kogut)

In the classification of natural disasters and hazards that occur all over the world, landslides are in the fifth place, both as far as number of casualties and material losses. Landslides are processes that lead to natural disasters or technical failures, the consequences of which threaten life, health and property of people. Continuous monitoring and evaluation of the risk seems to be a very important issue in preventing effects of this natural disasters. This paper therefore discuss the causes of landslides wit...
