In the present work the dependence of macro- and microelements content in plants on the level of soil contamination with heavy metals is estimated. The influence of different concentrations of lead (Pb), zinc (Zn) and cadmium (Cd) in Sod-podzolic soil and Chernozem on the elemental composition of agricultural crops (wheat, barley and alfalfa) depending on their biological characteristics has been studied. The level of contamination by heavy metals and arsenic (As) was estimated in post-agrogenic Retisols, Phaeozems, and Chernozems, belonging to different bioclimatic zones of European Russia. Each chronosequense included arable soil, abandoned soils of different age of restoration and native (forest or steppe) cenosis.
