AM-241 IN THE DON RIVER SEDIMENT CORE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Yury Fedorov, Andrey Kuznetsov, st. Vladislav Yaroslavtsev)

The concern about the environmental contamination by 241Am is caused by the fact, that its half-life period is longer and its mobility is much higher than that of parent plutonium. That is why in soils and sediments the specific activity of the radionuclide increases over time. The alpha-decay energy of 241Am and the relatively short lifetime of the isotope create high specific radioactivity and thermal yield. In bottom sediments, the ratio of 241Am to 241Pu increases every year. All these factors result in a high...

CESIUM-137 AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR DETERMINING THE SEDIMENTATION RATES IN THE LAKES OF THE BLACK SEA DRAINAGE BASIN

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Yury Fedorov)

Cesium-137 is a long-lived technogenic radionuclide. The study of its distribution in the environment is important either from ecological point of view or as it may be used as a marker for sediment core dating. Lakes are excellent objects for the application of these approaches. A scientific expedition was carried out in order to extract and to study sediment cores from the beds of Lake Maly Liman, Lake Abrau, Lake Maly Utrish (Municipality of Novorossiysk, Region of Krasnodar), and Lake Bolshoi Tambukan (at the b...

HEAVY METALS AND PHYSICO-CHEMICAL CONDITIONS IN THE WATER OF THE SEA OF AZOV

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Irina Dotsenko, Yury Fedorov, Sen.Lect. Anna Mikhailenko)

The water column of the Sea of Azov is undergoing significant transformation of Oceanographic characteristics (temperature, salinity, oxygen content). They depend on the seasons and weather situation. In the summer, despite wind activity, observed a classic for the Sea of Azov, the distribution of the parameters: water temperature decrease in the direction of the Don River ? Taganrog Bay ? the central part of the Sea of Azov ? the area of Kerch. In the fall, observed reverse pattern during the relative calm. Durin...

METHANE AND HYDROGEN SULFIDE PELOIDS ARE IN BIG LAKE TAMBUKAN

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Yury Fedorov, SRA)

The regularities of distribution of methane and sulfide sulfur (total sulfide пїЅ ?H2S) in the bottom sediment deposits of therapeutic sulfide mud Lake Bolshoy (Big) Tambukan, located in the region of Caucasian Mineral Waters. Determination of methane and sulfide sulfur were produced in black and dark grey therapeutic mud, as well as in the underlying steel-grey clays and coastal sediments, represented by yellow-brown clay and loam. The formation of therapeutic sulfide mud flows through the biogeochemical environm...
