Balanced development of ecosystem services in regions is one way of achieving the UN's sustainable development goals. Ecosystem services are divided into three main groups: First delivery services. Nature supplies us food and drinking water, raw materials and alternative energy sources. Thanks to natural biodiversity, we can grow a variety of vegetables and fruit, gather berries and mushrooms in the woods, and fish in the sea, rivers and lakes. Nature also supplies drinking water, which is the source of life for each living creature. Nearly 3% of our planet's land is urban and could only be achieved by natural resources. Secondly, support and regulation services. Nature regulates climate, prevents natural disasters and provides habitats for living organisms. Forests clean up the air, wetlands collect water after great rainfall, thereby preventing flooding. But fruit and berries in our gardens are brewing thanks to insect pollination activities. Third cultural services. The possibility of enjoying beautiful landscapes, going on tourism or entertainment trips and dealing with sports, fishing and swimming in a river, lake or sea is invaluable. It is precisely the wilderness that attracts the most people. The aim of this study is to analyze the opportunities provided by the Svete river catchment ecosystem services at Jelgava municipality level in the context of the UN 17 sustainable development goals. The created matrix provides a deeper understanding of the role of ecosystem services at local municipality level and provides a framework for the future development of ecosystem services. The results of this pilot research can be used as framework of ecosystem service development in municipalities with lowland rivers.
