Miyawaki-forest technique is a worldwide used method to create forest quickly in urban conditions. Akira Miyawaki is a Japanese botanist and professor, who invented this technic since 1980. The method takes its inspiration from nature, what means that 15-30 different species of trees and shrubs are densely planted together in a slightly small area. The first Hungarian adaptation of Miyawaki-forest was introduced by the FOKERT in Taban on 20th May 2021. Forest planted with nine tree species (Acer platanoides, Acer campestre, Carpinus betulus, Crataegus monogyna, Euonymus europaeus, Pyrus pyraster, Quercus robur, Ulmus laevis, Sorbus torminalis). The area of current forest is 40 m2, that’s why the number of tree species is reduced to nine. 150 trees were planted to the area and after planting the surface was mulched with straw about 20 cm thick to retain water in the soil. Soil was changed in the area up to 50 centimeters before planting. In this article, we examined and summarized the first year of young trees. The number of leaves, the average of total leaf area was counted and the total height and individual leaf area was measured on all species. Photosynthetic activity and water vapor emission were measured on trees on two, different days of summer heat (July) and one month later (September) with LCi (IRGA infrared gas analyzer). The data were recorded between 11 and 15 h. Analyzer counts automatically the photosynthetic activity in ?mol/m2*sec and evaporation in mmol/m2*sec what calculated to g/m2 and l/m2 in a two-hours period. The data show differences between species and day.
