Abstract

The termination of mining and processing of uranium ores lead to either conservation or liquidation of uranium industry projects in a lot of countries, including Bulgaria. The liquidation of uranium industry is a problem of interdisciplinary character where problems of medicine, dosimetry radiochemistry, radio-physics, management, economics and engineering interface. All these topics define the radio-ecological engineering as a part of ecology divided into two main branches: recreation at technogenically elevated background due to artificial radioisotopes and recreation of technogenically induced natural radiation background. The questions of interaction between the existing biotic and newly created anthropogenic non-biotic systems are discussed in the paper.
