DIVERSITY AND DISTRIBUTION OF WOODY SPECIES IN A PERI-URBAN AREA OF TIMISOARA CITY (ROMANIA). A CASE STUDY - GIROC COMMUNE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Tenche-Constantinescu, Alina Maria)

Woody species play an important role in people?s life: improving air quality, managing storm water, have an aesthetic impact and provide a calming setting for recreation. The study examines the diversity and distribution of woody species in a settlement located very close to one of the most important cities, which are situated in the west part of Romania - Timisoara (city of gardens and parks). The analysis of trees and shrubs diversity highlights a number of 1945 broadleaves and coniferous trees, 3163 fruit trees...

RESEARCH OF THE FOREST HABITATS FOUND ON THE SHORE OF THE DANUBE RIVER (DOLJ COUNTY, ROMANIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Nuta, I. S., Rosculete, C.A.)

The paper presents some aspects about the biodiversity of the forest habitats and species adaptations to the ecological conditions on the shore of Danube river. The territory under research is located along the Danube river, in the Southern of Dolj County, between localities Rast and Gighera. Related to the humidity, temperature and soil reaction, the flora of the forest habitats of this region has a hygrophilous, meso-hygrophilous, mesophilous, meso-thermal, and slightly acido-neutrophilus character. Following th...

BIODIVERSITY OF MICROSCOPIC FILAMENTOUS FUNGI ISOLATED FROM OSTRAVA LAGOONS (LAGOONS OSTRAMO, CZECH REPUBLIC)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Vasinkova, M., Babicova, A., Dlabaja, M.)

Ostrava Lagoons belong among the most polluted areas in the Czech Republic. According to the available information, about 200 000 t of sludge from the industrial processing of crude oil during the whole 20th century were disposed there. The sludge contains high levels of organic pollutants (PAHs, PCBs, C10 - C40 hydrocarbons), including toxic metals of anthropogenic origin (As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Ni and Pb). A number of autochthonous microorganisms were isolated from the lagoon sludge. This study focuses on the biodivers...

INTEGRATED GROUNDWATER CHARACTERIZATION FOR BIODIVERSITY PROTECTION IN LIMPOPO NATIONAL PARK (MOZAMBICO)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Vitale, S., Barbieri, M., Sappa, G.)

This paper deals with the first results coming from the research activity of the SECOSUD Phase II, called ?Conservation and equitable use of biological diversity in the SADC region (Southern African Development Community) a project supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the SADC [1]. The goal of this tiered study is to give an integrated view of three focus themes inside the area of Limpopo National Park, in Limpopo River Basin: groundwater, climate change, biodiversity. Limpopo National Park is o...

INCIDENCE OF INVASIVE NATIVE AND NON-NATIVE SPECIES IN PERMANENT GRASSLANDS FROM WESTERN ROMANIAN CARPATHIANS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Sarateanu, V., Durau, C. C., Cotuna, O., Rechitean, D.)

In Western Romanian Carpathians most of the permanent grasslands are comprised in High Nature Value areas, they being used in extensive manner. The main constraints reflected on the grasslands from the analysed area are represented by depopulation and decrease of the number of grazing animals. One of the main consequences of the decrease of the anthropic pressure on the vegetation sward is the increase of the incidence of the invasive native and non-native plants species. In some situations they are producing grea...

BIODIVERSITY OF THE WESTPHALIAN A MARINE MARKER HORIZON OF THE NORTHWEST EUROPEAN CARBONIFEROUS BASIN: IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PALEOECOLOGICAL STUDIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Krzeszowska, Ewa)

Westphalian A marine horizon Dunbarella is especially important for correlation of Carboniferous in the Lublin Coal Basin (LCB), and in the other basins of the Northwest European Carboniferous Basin (NWECB). Within the horizon Dunbarella an abundant fauna, mainly Mollusca (predominantly bivalves, goniatites, gastropods) and Brachiopoda, were identified. The distribution of fauna in the analysed horizon within the investigated boreholes, fluctuates in terms of both abundance and taxonomy, and cyclic sedimentation t...

NOTES ABOUT EAST OF BALTOSCANDIA AS A POSSIBLE CENTER OF BIODIVERSITY BY MIDDLE ORDOVICIAN ORTHIDAE (BRACHIOPODA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Tsinkoburova, Maria)

The flourishing of the family Orthidae (class Rhynchonellata, order Orthida) was happening in the first half of the Ordovician, the stage known in the literature as the Great Ordovician Diversification. The problem of the establishment of the Biodiversity centers is one of the dominant problems of modern Evolution Biogeography. At the present time, there are not common criterions for the determination of biodiversity's center in spite of the unanimous acknowledgement of the existence of local speciation's regions....

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Gogoberidze, George)

The study considers the seaports as one of the main objects of coastal infrastructure in frames of the analysis of the system principles of sustainability of coastal systems in view of spatial planning and development of maritime activities in the coastal and marine areas of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. The port of Sabetta launched in 2012 on the east coast of the Yamal Peninsula, the Gulf of Ob is aimed at providing the 24/7 and year-round transport and engineering infrastructure to ensure the suppl...

IMPORTANCE OF NATURE CLOSE RESTORATION OF MINING SITES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Kasparova, I., Pecharova, E.)

Sites that arise after mining in our country are mostly unique habitats and should be dealt adequately. This fact is valid in particular for smaller sites of mining and mineral extraction. However, the restoration should not rely just on spontaneous succession. If there in the area are developing or is there a prerequisite of development of plant communities with important species (refuge, hot spots), it is always necessary to support the development of desirable successional stages, and, vice versa eliminate inva...
