VARIABILITY OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS CONTENT IN ASH AND SLAG DEPOSITED AT A LANDFILL SITE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Bialecka, B., CEMPA, M., Bauerek, A., Moszko, J. C.)

The article presents the results of investigations into the chemical composition, contents of selected rare earth elements and the reaction of eluates obtained from the waste (ash and slag) produced in the process of hard coal combustion in a pulverized-fuel boiler. Samples for tests were taken from the ash and slag landfill from three 10-metre vertical profiles. The total content of REEs in the examined ash-slags ranges from 295 to 366 mg/kg. The average concentration of rare earth elements is 330 mg/kg, with a s...

MECHANICAL ACTIVATION OF SLAG AND ITS INFLUENCE ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF GEOPOLYMERS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Marcin, M., Sandorova, K., Matasovsky, M., Loch, B., Roth, B.)

Slag is one of the by-products of energy industry which is suitable for secondary industrial processing. Although slag has been successfully used in industrial production for several decades its use does not achieve the level of its potential. This work describes the improvement of mechanical properties of alkali activated binders ? geopolymers made of slag. The effect of mechanical activation on mechanical properties of geopolymers was examined. Mechanical activation was made with ball mill and different time of ...

STUDIES AND RESEARCH CONCERNING THE CONTROL OF EMISSIONS AND GAS IN VARIOUS TECHNOLOGICAL PHASES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Constantinescu, Stela)

Simulation and testing technology of sintering flue gas recirculation, under Arcelor Mittal S.A.Galati proved its superiority compared to conventional sintering technology by: lower specific consumption of coke by approx. 10 to 15%; lower costs agglomeration; reduction of pollution due to: decrease of specific volume of exhaust gas to the basket by 45 - 50% ;decrease in the emission of SOx to basket approx. 55%; lowering NOx emissions from basket approx. 50%; CO2 emissions drop to approx basket. 20%; retention lay...

STUDY ON DEVELOPMENT OF VINE PLANT IN SLAG AND ASH RESULTING FROM THE BURNING OF COAL IN THERMAL POWER PLANTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Tataru, D., Tataru, A. C., Stanci, A.)

In the production of electricity in the Thermal Power Plants, coal is one of the fuels. After burning coal, is resulting large amounts of waste in the form of slag and ash stored in ponds. After completing the submission of slag and ashes in ponds they have to rentered in the natural circuit. Soil of tailing ponds has a small grain size and is permeable, the structure of ponds are landscaped with irrigation systems and drainage water. Also soils have a low nutrient content and contain certain chemicals that could ...

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF STEEL SLAG COMPONENTS FROM INFRASTRUCTURE OF ROADS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, IANASI, Catalina)

Construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of land communication use large quantities of material from processing plants (earth, natural aggregates including filler and binder). It is noted, however, that their diversity is limited. It is recommended to introduce and promote manufacturing technologies that have a low environmental impact. An artificial material used for road structure is the steel slag from steelworks. Ferrous metallurgical slag processing plant benefits in terms of environmental protection, in ...

THE EXTRACTION OF AG-CONCENTRATE FROM THE WASTE MATERIAL BY MEANS OF FLOTATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Landecka, A., Kubecka, J., Mokrosova, A., Kral, T., Zavada, J.)

This article deals with a possibility of extraction flotative Ag-concentrate from the waste material, concretely slag arising from processing of silver and copper in the second half of the twentieth century, which is deposited around the city of Kutn? Hora in the Markovi?ky region. A cationic octadecylamin was used as a flotative collector. The aim was to reach maximum metal content of the concentrate as well as maximum yield of Ag into concentrate during a decrease of raw material capacity. An anion active collec...
