EXTRACTION OF MAIN COLORS FROM A COLOR DIGITAL IMAGE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, A. Ciobanu, M. Costin, T. Barbu)

In order to prepare minimal feature vectors to be used in a Content Based Image Recognition (CBIR) system, we are proposing methods that can accurately identify the main colors contained in a digital image. The methods use the “LAB” color space properties that allow for all the colors of the same intensity or luminance “L” to be placed uniformly in the same “ab” plane. Basically, RGB images are first preprocessed: trimmed, scaled and transformed in the LAB color space. Then (a,b) pairs, corresponding t...

GINISSENSE - VISUALISING SENSOR DATA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, N. Veljkovic, M. Bogdanovic, S. Bogdanovic-Dinic, L. Stoimenov)

In recent years, due to advances in science and technology, environmental issues have been rising, constantly requiring additional attention. Fumes, waste water, air pollution are just some of many problems the society’s dealing with today. We are now in position to use the same technology, that threatens to destroy basic environmental resources necessary for living, for monitoring environmental parameters’ conditions and avoiding further pollution. Visualization of real time data and on-time data delivery are...

MAPPING ONTOLOGIES TO OBJECT-ORIENTED REPRESENTATION IN GEONIS FRAMEWORK FOR GIS INTEROPERABILITY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, AL. Stanimirovic, M. Bogdanovic, L. Stoimenov)

Research presented in this paper is a part of our ongoing work on GeoNis framework. GeoNis is framework for interoperability of GIS applications in local community environment. In this paper we introduce an approach for automatic generation of objectoriented model for handling ontology instances stored in relational databases. Central part of this approach is an algorithm that transforms application ontologies into appropriate object-oriented model. Using this approach we have developed a Data Access Layer Generat...

MULTICRITERIA ANALYSIS APPLIED TO A FLOOD EVENT ON RIVER MARITZA/EVROS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, N. Dobrinkova, K. Genova, M. Vassileva)

Floods are river basin wide phenomena and they often create common problems with locally varying intensity. The flood disaster management is highly dependent on early information and needs forecasts and data from the river basin as a whole. The starting point for flood risk management planning is the assessment of flood risks, based on the information about the river basin and floods in the past. The next step is developing strategies for reaction when flooding events are prognosticated, and evaluation of these st...

REPRESENTATION OF GEO-INFORMATION GATHERED FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES IN A UNIFORM MANNER

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Bogdanovic, D. Vulovic, L. Stoimenov)

This paper presents out researches in the area of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geovisualization. As one of the results, we will present a solution that consists of geodata styling document repository and editor. This solution is a part of a larger GIS interoperability platform – GeoNis. As a language used for creating geographic data styling documents, we have chosen Symbology Encoding (SE) language proposed by the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) organization. Integrated Symbology Encoding Edi...

SITE SELECTION OF WASTE STORAGE LOCATIONS WITH FUZZY LOGIC AND ANALYTIC HIERARCHY PROCESS IN A GIS FRAMEWORK, CASE STUDY: SI-SAKHT TOWN IN DENA CITY, KOHGILOUYE O BOYER AHMAD PROVINCE, IRAN

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Ahmadi, P. SHIRIN Zade, S. B. MOKHTAR Pouryani, S. Gilak)

Optimized site selections for urban facilities and services could be mentioned as one of the most important factor in urban management. In this context, several factors influence on decision making for site selection that by considering each of them, management could optimize the usage of equipments by employing the standard criteria. In this study, with regard to different criteria in selecting appropriate waste storage locations, which reaches both economic-technical and environmental considerations, and by empl...

THE DEVELOPMENT OF GEOINFORMATICS BASED FRAMEWORK TO QUANTIFY GULLY EROSION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, F. Sattar, R.J.WASSON, D. Pearson, G. Boggs, W. Ahmad, M. Nawaz)

In this study a methodological framework is presented using tools and techniques of geoinformatics to quantify gully erosion. The study was conducted in the Fergusson catchment; a sub-catchment of the Daly river, Northern Australia. Various airborne and field based reconnaissance surveys have shown that the catchment in places is severely affected by gully erosion producing large amounts of sediment. The framework applied comprised of Cartosat-1 (2.5 m resolution) stereo imagery 2008, topographic maps 1:20,000, 1 ...
