Water Framework Directive 2000/60 / EC is considered a progressive and innovative legislative measure which should lead to improved of surface water in Europe. One important factor contributing to the impairment of surface water quality is the use of chemical and organic fertilizers, which through runoff or leaching in water table can cause the phenomenon of pollution of surface waters and groundwater. THE USE OF COMPOST TO FERTILIZE CROPS IN MINE TAILING AREAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Rosculete, C.A., Rosculete, E., Nuta, S.I.)

The tailings resulting from surface excavation mining can turn into areas used for the re-cultivation of various species of plants, which represents, in fact, an ecological reconstruction and rehabilitation of degraded fields. The re-cultivation of tailings can underpin farming or forestry, and the research conducted in this regard recommends using organic and mineral fertilizers in order to provide the necessary nutrients, increase the organic matter content and also improve the soil structure and microbiological...

The paper presents the results from studies carried out in the farming conditions. It has been found that with the application of rational norms of mineral and organic fertilizers used for growing various crops (barley, rape, flax, soybean), soil fertility could be stabilized and their effectiveness enhanced. The content of mineral nitrogen under rape crops was at the level of the control variant. Its content in the variant using liquid manure (biofertilizer) was somewhat lower than that of in the rotted manure - ...
