ENERGY RECOVERY FROM WASTEWATER FOR HEATING AND COOLING OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL BUILDING IN BRNO: MODELING THE CONNECTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Racek, J., Utersky, M., Sevcik, J., Dufek, Z., Hlavinek, P.)

This paper deals with current applied research focused on energy gain from wastewater (WW) for heating and cooling in a new multifunctional building. Energy-saving and environmental protection technologies are becoming one of the most important issues in the design and construction in EU. Energy gain from WW is often associated with piping exchangers, but there are alternative methods such as input pipes with pumping station (PS) and heat exchanger system (HES) with automatic surface cleaning and solids removal. E...

ASSESSMENT OF HEAVY METALS LEACHING FROM DIFFERENT TYPES OF WASTE MIXED WITH MOLASSES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Modoi, O.C., Ajtai, N., ROBA, C., Ciobotariu, C., Mihaiescu, T.)

In the present study it was evaluated the capacity of molasses for removing seven metals (Fe, Zn, Cu, Cd, Cr, Pb, and Ni) from three types of waste: galvanic sludge (pH = 7.1 ? 7.8), mineral residue from a lead metallurgical plant (pH = 5.0 ? 5.8) from Baia Mare (Romania), and tailing pond residue from Aurul - Baia Mare (pH = 2.1 ? 3.0). Several leaching tests were conducted in the laboratory in order to investigate the influence of molasses concentrations (0 %, 1%, 5%, 10%) on heavy metal leaching. It was observe...

CHANGES OF PETROSANI BASIN-S LANDSCAPE AS A RESULT OF COAL MINING ACTIVITIES AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE ANTHROPIC LANDFORMS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Buia, G., Nimara, C., Tofan, G.B., Bold, O.V., Luca, S.)

The direct field observations and processing the info-graphic support (satellite images, thematic maps, profiles, digital images of the area) led to the preparation of this paper and realization of the proposal rehabilitation measures of anthropogenic landforms generated by coal mining activities in Petrosani Basin. These are exemplified by analyzing the Petrila 2 East dump (the Eastern end of the Basin) and Campu lui Neag coal pit (in the Western end of the Basin). The landscape of Petrosani Basin is transformed ...

GOAL AND SCOPE AND ITS EVOLUTION FOR LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS RECOVERY FROM SECONDARY SOURCES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Grzesik, K., Bieda, B., Kozakiewicz, R., Kossakowska, K.)

Currently the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology is more and more frequently used as a tool for evaluating the environmental performance of products or services. Conducting the LCA is particularly important and valuable for a new product, process or technology. That is also applied for research on the innovative solutions or process proposals. The ENVIREE project funded from the ERA-MIN programme within the 2nd Joint Call aims at complete recovery process proposal of REE (rare earths elements) from tailings a...
