The relevance of the research lies in the fact that the well-being of the Ukrainian nation, present and future generations, largely depends on the preservation of existing ecosystems, their support, and the enhancement of their quality and biodiversity. Particular attention should be paid to the problem of land cover degradation. Land cover currently holds a unique status regarding food security and is a dominant source for renewing crucial biospheric functions, ensuring the diversity of living organisms. The anth...

DESTRUCTION OF THE KAKHOVKA RESERVOIR AS A RESULT OF HOSTILITIES: DYNAMICS OF CHANGE AND CONSEQUENCES FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-12-15, Oleksandr Trofymchuk, Natalia Sheviakina, Оlha Tomchenko)

The results of the study of the dynamics of changes in the territory of the Kakhovka reservoir before and after the explosion of the dam on June 6, 2023 are presented. This led to the destruction of the Kakhovka reservoir and the sharp flooding of significant areas downstream of the Dnieper River, including the delta. The analysis was carried out on two indicators: the water surface area and the water level. As a result of the analysis of space images, it was found that the area of the Kakhovka reservoir decreased...

Wildfires are a problem all over the world. Plant and animal life are under threat of destruction. But this issue is especially relevant for Ukraine, where fires appear en masse throughout the country not only from weather factors but also from enemy shelling by the Russian army. In addition, there is the uncontrolled spread of fire to large areas of Ukraine due to limited access to emergency services. Because of hostilities, landmines, and the occupation of Ukrainian territory, Ukrainian rescuers and foresters ar...

USE OF HYDROACOUSTIC METHODS AND REMOTE SENSING DATA FOR LAKE MONITORING

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Natalia Sheviakina, Ihor Radchuk, Оlha Tomchenko, Snizhana Zagorodnia)

The purpose of the scientific research is the development, improvement and implementation of information technologies for a comprehensive assessment of the intensity and nature of anthropogenic pressure on urban (urbanized) water resources by contact and remote methods to improve the efficiency of the environmental management system and the environmental safety of the water fund of cities. The tasks for conducting research carried out using technologies for remote sensing of the Earth from space (ERS), specialized...
