CASTANEA SATIVA MILL. HYDROPHILIC AND LIPID EXTRACTS: ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY, KINETICS, FATTY ACID PROFILE AND CYCLODEXTRIN NANOENCAPSULATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Agnes Cupin, Laurentiu-Razvan Draghici, Alina Ciobanu-Sibu, Nicoleta G. Hădărugă, Daniel-Ioan Hădărugă)

The goal of the study was the obtaining of Castanea sativa Mill., CS (sweet chestnut) antioxidant extracts and lipid fractions from skin and pulp, followed by nanoencapsulation in cyclodextrins (CDs). The nutritional and medicinal values of fruits are mainly due to the presence of low-gluten carbohydrates, vitamins, as well as essential fatty acids (FA), including omega-3. In this study, the KG variety was subjected to the Soxhlet separation of the lipid fractions (petroleum ether) and antioxidant polyphenols (eth...

DESIGNING RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS ON REGIONAL LEVEL

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Ildiko Tulbure, Maria Ciobanu)

Development of renewable energy systems can certainly contribute to climate change mitigation. In many regions initiatives can be noticed to succeed in increasing the efficient usage of renewable energy resources such as hydro power, solar and wind energy as well as bioenergy. From these resources the bioenergy and the hydro power by their storage possibilities have the potential to counterbalance the temporal variability of solar and wind energy. Anyway, by applying such renewable energy resources it is possible ...

STUDY OF ZINC BINDING TO NEUROPROTECTIVE PEPTIDES

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Catalina Ionica Ciobanu)

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's affect an increasing number of people. Their etiology is related to the formation of fibrils and protein aggregates. Therefore, new therapeutic strategies and compounds are required to prevent aggregation of ?-amyloid (A?) peptides. There are some neuropeptides that play an important role in the immune regulation, as well as in neuroprotection; therefore, they might be possible candidates for future drug development. Consequently, our experiments were ...

EXTRACTION OF MAIN COLORS FROM A COLOR DIGITAL IMAGE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, A. Ciobanu, M. Costin, T. Barbu)

In order to prepare minimal feature vectors to be used in a Content Based Image Recognition (CBIR) system, we are proposing methods that can accurately identify the main colors contained in a digital image. The methods use the “LAB” color space properties that allow for all the colors of the same intensity or luminance “L” to be placed uniformly in the same “ab” plane. Basically, RGB images are first preprocessed: trimmed, scaled and transformed in the LAB color space. Then (a,b) pairs, corresponding t...
