SUSPENDED SEDIMENT CONCENTRATIONS AND FLUXES OF A MEANDERING SYSTEM, THE ST. GEORGE DISTRIBUTARY,DANUBE DELTA

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Laura Tiron Duţu, Florin Duțu, Gabriela Vlad, Iulian Pojar, Naliana Lupașcu)

Most of the suspension matter transported by rivers derives from the riverbed erosion. Complementary, the anthropogenic factor is responsible for the introduction of significant amounts of sedimentary material, especially suspended, but also dissolved material. In most cases, the distinction between naturally occurring materials and anthropic ones is almost impossible to achieve due to the complexity of the erosion processes. The suspended sediments concentration (SSC) and discharges were analyzed in the Danube De...

THE SPATIO-TEMPORAL DISTRIBUTION OF THE FRESHWATER CRUSTACEAN ASELLUS AQUATICUS LINNAEUS, 1758, IN THE DANUBE DELTA

Asellus aquaticus Linnaeus, 1758 is the widespread and common Palearctic freshwater isopod, feeding on detritus. This crustacean, probably, has its ancient evolutionary origins around Siberia and has spread from there to Western Europe and North America. Commonly associated with a temperate climate, it has been recorded as far south as the Mediterranean, and as far north as Scandinavia. The species is primarily associated with the b-mesosaprobic waters of the palearctic realm i.e., high concentrations of dissolved...

THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE WASTES PLATFORM AT TOMESTI-IASI (ROMANIA)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2005, A. Murariu, N. Costica, M. Costica, A. Stratu, C. Secu, A. Lupascu, I. Moglan)

During 2004, pluridisciplinary investigations have been devoted to the abiotic and biotic characteristics of the anthropized ecosystem developed in relation with the domestic litter hills at Tomesti, Iasi. Both abiotic (climate, soil, air) and biotic (talobyontes, chormobyontes, phytophagous invertebrata) parameters have been recorded. The results showed that the urban wastes deposit has a complex impact upon the environment: air pollution with odours and dust, soil pollution with heavy metals (Pb, Ni, Cr, Cd, Cu)...
